Our annual handicap race, with Chris Morton defending his title, will take place on 10th Sept 14 followed by a presentation & informal social gathering in the Sir Nigel Gresley. The prize list will be extensive, well plenty of wine, so do your best to get to the Sir Nigel Gresley. Handicaps will be calculated on best recent performances, particularly Parkruns or 10ks. Where none exist an estimated handicap will be applied. The route will be the same as last year i.e starting from Sainsburys, along Nadins Way, Cadley Hill Road, A444 (Burton Road) left at Toone’s roundabout to the Drum & Monkey roundabout through the Castleton Park estate & then right on Hearthcote Road to finish outside the Leisure Centre. The route is 4.06 miles. The idea is that slower runners start first based on their handicap time with our fastest runner going last. Hopefully, if he’s fit, Roger will be the first runner off at 19.00 so be down promptly please, particularly the ones going off early. Don’t need to do anything else except let Inge or myself know, ideally by the previous Wednesday (3rd Sept 14), that you’re taking part in the run. I’ll be down from 18.30 on the night so if, for whatever reason, you can’t let us know then at least be down as early as possible on the night. Regulars will know that there is a good bar menu available in the Sir Nigel Gresley & that showers are available in the Green Bank LC (should pay at reception for this) if you want a shower after running Keen to get as many as possible running but if anyone can’t run & wants to help out please let me know. Any queries just ask.

There are unlikely to be marshals at every junction on the route so it is important that great care is taken by runners when crossing roads & junctions.  Think we might be losing daylight towards the end of the run so reflective clothing should be worn.
