Saturday and Sunday saw another packed weekend of racing for SDRR, writes our man on the spot Phil Daws.
Three SDRR Amigos, Adrian Middleton, Gary Price & Phil Daws headed to Crich for the annual Monument race.  A wonderful Village Fete awaited the 213 runners who set out on a tough 11Km course that offered fast winding forest descents, pacey runs along the Cromford Canal, leading to a 1000ft quad busting climb to the Monument.  Phil Daws finished in 53rd place with a time of 56.44, followed by Adrian Middleton in 79th place with another PB and going under the hour in 59.59, and a very strong finish by Gary Price in 119th place with a time of 66.33.
Sunday saw a very strong contingent of SDRR runners head to Foremarke Hall for Brooksies Bash.  In hot and humid conditions 233 runners took on a very undulating 10 mile trail course that encompassed all different types of terrain; fields, gravel, tarmac and woods.  The beautiful scenery was sometimes missed as the runners battled to conquer steep climbs, but then were rewarded with yet more stunning views.  Fantastic results were achieved by the SDRR runners with Phil Daws finishing in 29th place and a time of 1.18.57, closely followed by Romain Chambard in 40th place and a time of 1.22.23, next in was Paul Hudson in 53rd place who is gaining pace with every race and finished in a time of 1.27.44.  The first SDRR lady back was Lisa Wright finishing in 81st place and a time of 1.32.39, and hot on her heels was Kelvin Taylor in 83rd place and a time of 1.33.26.  Next in was the usual spouse battle between Paul & Tracey Glover, with Paul taking the victory this time in 88th place and a time of 1.34.21, and Tracey in hot pursuit with a finish position of 95th and a time of 1.35.51.  David Lunn was next and continues to make great progress, especially after some very recent tough midweek races, and finished just behind Tracy in 96th place and a time of 1.36.18.  Becky Moult was next in sporting a huge smile and an excellent 131st place with a time of 1.41.12,  followed by Stephen Tempest and James Cobb battling for the line, with respective finishing positions of 153rd and 155th, and times of 1.44.16 and 1.44.21.  Roger Cobb and Franckie Hughes were the next SDRR runners home, both breaking the sub two hour finish, in 212th and 216th place respectively and times of 1.59.02 and 1.59.49.  Jan Cobb was next home in 232nd place and a fantastic time of 2.12.52. Cath Johnson was met by a huge round of applause finishing in a time of 2.38.00.

A great weekend and again some very happy SDRR memories made.
