This and the relatively flat, 2 lap course meant that those that made the journey in preference to Christmas shopping were rewarded with some terrific times. Shane Chapman was first back for the club in 36th place in 1:03:52 followed by elder brother Paul in 42nd in 1:05:55 & Andy Orme in 43rd at 1:06:14. Andy had warmed up for this race with his usual appearance at Parkrun followed, this weekend, by a guest appearance at the Santa Run at Rosliston Forestry Centre. The large carverys are definitely paying off. Stephen Leafe, who has struggled a bit lately with injury, bounced back well for 83rd in 1:10:22 to make 4 in the top 100 for SDRR in a very competitive field. The reliable Gary Price finished next in 181st in a superb PB of 1:18:47 and Birthday Boy David Lunn rounded off the Club’s contingent in 308th in 1:33:11. The Christmas pudding each finisher received for their efforts provided a novel way for the squad to refuel.
Continuing the seasonal theme, Kelly Knight & Mark Coombes were also in action on Sunday in the Keyworth Turkey Trot Half Marathon with both recording significant PB’s over this classic distance. Mark ran a chip time of 1.38.12 for a superb 244th place in a really big field while Kelly was not that far behind with 1.41.54 & 302nd place overall. Some great performances all round.

The pudding tastes good!
