{"id":1884,"date":"2014-09-01T19:31:08","date_gmt":"2014-09-01T19:31:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sdrr.co.uk\/?p=1884"},"modified":"2014-09-01T19:31:08","modified_gmt":"2014-09-01T19:31:08","slug":"burton-10k-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sdrr.co.uk\/?p=1884","title":{"rendered":"Burton 10k"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<strong>Club dominate the prizes!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: normal\">On a day when the Burton 10k race entry maximum was reached the Club confirmed their resurgence locally by their domination of the prize list.<!--more--> Leading the way was the Club&#8217;s women with Louise Insley winning the women&#8217;s race in a superb 38.11 with the quickly improving Christina Cooper 3<sup>rd<\/sup> in 41.44 and the consistent Tracey Glover returning 45.49, which gave her the 1<sup>st<\/sup> FV35 prize and the 3 women an emphatic 1<sup>st<\/sup> place in the women&#8217;s team race. The race, the penultimate race in this year&#8217;s Burton &amp; District Summer Road Racing League, also confirmed the Club&#8217;s women as the 1<sup>st<\/sup> team across the series. Not to be outdone the Club&#8217;s men also secured the men&#8217;s team prize in this race through the superb efforts of Dominic Sharman, 5<sup>th<\/sup> overall in 36.50, Andy Hawtin, 8<sup>th<\/sup> in 37.42, Chris Pearson 15<sup>th<\/sup> in 37.59 &amp; the fast finishing Jack Leafe, 16<sup>th<\/sup> in 38.00.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: normal\">All together 33 members from the Club joined 250 others on the start line to tackle a challenging course in good running conditions. Giving great support to the prize winners were Alex Black-Roberts who, despite tiring in the latter stages, still returned 38.30 &amp; 20<sup>th<\/sup> place overall, James Cassidy 39.09 in 26<sup>th<\/sup> &amp; Paul Chapman, just dipping under the 10k benchmark of 40 mins, with 39.58 &amp; 31<sup>st<\/sup> place. 5 places separated the next 3 of the Club&#8217;s finishers in the men&#8217;s race with Chris Crosby, Andy Orme &amp; Colin Mee running well to record times of 40.44, 41.00 &amp; 41.06 &amp; finishing positions of 36<sup>th<\/sup>, 39<sup>th<\/sup> &amp; 41<sup>st<\/sup> respectively. Stuart Halsey &amp; Chris Gunstone were next to finish in 50<sup>th<\/sup> &amp; 54<sup>th<\/sup> places in times of 42.00 &amp; 42.34 before the &#8216;beast&#8217; Gavin Horton stopped the clock in 43.12. Steve Leafe was not far behind the &#8216;beast&#8217; in 43.30 &amp; 66<sup>th<\/sup> place with a slight gap to the hard working Mark Coombes in 45.08 &amp; 88<sup>th<\/sup> place &amp; Steve Fowler in 89<sup>th<\/sup> place overall in 45.25. Still within the top 100 were Gary Price, Chris Hughes &amp; Ray Udall in 94<sup>th<\/sup>, 95<sup>th<\/sup> &amp; 99<sup>th<\/sup> places &amp; times of 46.06, 46.23 &amp; 46.38 respectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: normal\">A regular scorer for the women&#8217;s team &amp; here making a welcome return after injury Kelly Knight was next in 11<sup>th<\/sup> place in the women&#8217;s race in 46.46 followed by Ashley Parkes, another who&#8217;s had an injury blighted season, in 49.10. The improving Paul Glover was next in 50.16 followed by Lisa Wright in 50.50 &amp; Malcolm Moore in 51.31. Sam Skidmore ran solidly for 36<sup>th<\/sup> place in the women&#8217;s race in 51.34 followed by Tim Argent in 175<sup>th<\/sup> place overall in 52.33. There then followed Laura Storer, Inge Moore, Heidi Elliott &amp; Christine Matthews who all ran bravely to record times of 53.01, 58.33, 70.30 &amp; 73.14 respectively.
