At least Andy had the satisfaction of getting a difficult run in the recent London Marathon out of his system with this strong performance. James Cassidy, after contesting for much of the race, ran solidly for 65.16 & 12th place out of 182 finishers before possibly the Club’s most consistent runner, Andy Orme, stopped the clock in 68.19 & 23rd place. Christina Hawtin & Christian Glover, both running strongly after recent marathons, were given identical times of 69.23 but it was Christina who just edged it on finishing places, 26th to Christian’s 28th. Christina’s terrific performance was also good enough to give her the 2nd prize in the senior women’s race.
Andrew Windle, made an excellent racing debut for the Club in recording 73.55 for 46th place with the quickly improving Tom Eyre just one place back in a time of 74.05. Tom though had the ample compensation of beating his father Dave (74.59) for the first time in a competitive race although Eyre senior sited extenuating circumstances for his defeat. Adrian Middleton also ran well on his least favoured surface to record 75.40 for 59th place. Steve Fowler, Paul Glover & Tracey Glover swapped positions a number of times during the race but it was the evergreen Fowler who showed his considerable experience in stopping the clock in 77.26 to his rivals 77.38 & 78.49 respectively. Rob Lower had an unusual race because he started after everybody else & spent the race playing catch up. He eventually finished in 81.30 just getting the better of Gary Price’s 81.32. Tim Argent, who is putting together a good series of races, was next in 83.21. On this occasion just edging out Lisa Wright’s 84.33. Dave Renshaw, Richard Ward & Chris Morton all ran solidly to record 88.09, 89.48 & 90.03 respectively with Ward’s sprint finish earning the biggest cheer of the day from the crowd at the finish. Another recovering well after a spring marathon, Jenny Tattersall, was next in 94.15 before Suki Kaur, Kerry Ward & Linda Mason gave everything in recording 97.35, 100.55 & 105.38 respectively.

Chris is out in front!!
