{"id":2904,"date":"2016-05-23T19:17:32","date_gmt":"2016-05-23T19:17:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sdrr.co.uk\/?p=2904"},"modified":"2016-05-23T19:17:32","modified_gmt":"2016-05-23T19:17:32","slug":"burton-10-european-vets-10k-champs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sdrr.co.uk\/?p=2904","title":{"rendered":"Burton 10 &#038; European Vets 10k Champs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<strong><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\">\u2018Ten out of Ten\u2019 performances<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\">The revamped Burton 10, the third race in this year\u2019s Burton &amp; District Summer Road Racing League, saw 32 runners from\u00a0the Club\u00a0lining up on the start line with 250 others.<\/span><!--more--><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\"> It was a really successful day for the Club, both in terms of team &amp; individual performances, as 16 of these runners achieved Run Britain PBs for the distance.\u00a0 Some of the Club\u2019s runners are enjoying the form of their lives, a fact highlighted by seven of the Club\u2019s men Andy Hawtin (8<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\"> in 62:32), John Morgan (15<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\"> in 64:25), Stuart Halsey (23<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">rd<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\"> in 65:27), Andy Windle (30<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">th <\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\">in 66:45), Simon Reynolds (31<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">st<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\"> in 66:51), Andy Orme (39<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\"> in 68:16) &amp; Tom Bradley (43<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">rd<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\"> in 69:01) all ducking beneath the 70 minute benchmark for the distance.\u00a0 Tom Eyre, one of those achieving a PB, was next in 72:58 before Christina Hawtin, making a really welcome racing appearance after an injury enforced absence, stopped the clock in 73:11. Glenn Smith ran well for his 74:09 before two of the Club\u2019s runners who tackled this year\u2019s London Marathon, Nigel Atkins &amp; Tracey Glover, showed they have recovered well as they finished in 74:59 &amp; 76:45 respectively. Close behind and scoring valuable team points was Caley Parnell\u2019s 76:53, with one of the best marathon runners the Club has ever produced, Rob Lower, finishing in 77:19. Some close inter-Club racing involved Lisa Wright, Peter Barsby, Laura Harper &amp; Paul Glover as they finished in 79:06, 79:09, 80:03 &amp; 80:16 respectively. The ultra-consistent Tim Argent was next in 81:51 just getting the better of Mark Murkin\u2019s 82:24 &amp; Gary Price\u2019s 83:47 before only 6 seconds separated David Lunn, as he continued his 2016 racing odyssey here with 87:51, &amp; two of the Club\u2019s MV60 athletes Graham Blackshaw in 87:53 &amp; Steve Tempest in 87:57. Tony Richards, making his racing debut for the Club, ran well for 89:24 before Kat Smith achieved a well-deserved PB of 92:05. Karen Wilks, Robin Thorne &amp; Maria Allen were all credited with the same time of 93:26 before Alison Shearer, Linda Tempest &amp; Cath Johnston gave everything as they completed the finishers for the Club in 95:09, 115:34 &amp; 124:24 respectively.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\">Much further afield, &amp; in much higher temperatures, Louise Insley was competing in the European Vets Non-Stadia 10k Championships in Vila Real, Portugal.
