The Kibworth 6, the most challenging course in the Leicestershire Winter Road Running series, took\u00a0place on Sunday with the wintry conditions adding to the challenge facing the 392 runners, including\u00a015 from the Club. Andy Hawtin, cemented his early lead in the 2013 Club Championship, with a superb\u00a041st place finish in 37.35 to be first back for the Club.
\nCarrying on their battle from the cross\u00a0country season, Colin Mee and Chris Gunstone finished with exactly the same chip time of 40.42 with\u00a0Colin just edging it on the \u2018gun to tape finish\u2019 in 92nd place overall to Chris\u2019s 93rd.
\nAndy Orme was next to\u00a0finish, in what was probably his best run for the Club, in 40.59 and 97th place. Andy\u2019s recent rival Steve\u00a0Leafe, who himself has been in excellent form recently, finished next in 42.11 and 118 th just ahead of\u00a0a rejuvenated Rob Lower in a chip time of 42.17. Both Steve and Rob are clearly benefitting from the\u00a0heavy training necessary for the spring marathons they are both tackling. \u2018Gun to tape\u2019 Gavin Horton\u00a0actually finished ahead of Rob in 121st place but his chip time of 42.21 was slower than Rob\u2019s time.\u00a0There is no evidence at all that Gav false started.
\nMV65 Ray Udall and Christina Cooper had another close fought inter club battle when they finished in\u00a0times of 43.34 and 43.37 respectively, with Christina\u2019s excellent run being good enough for a superb 10th\u00a0place in a high quality women\u2019s race. Malcolm Moore was next across the line in 48.05 leading the way\u00a0home from Ian Barsby in 50.30 and new Club Chairman, Dave York in 51.50.
\nInge Moore ran her usual\u00a0steady race to finish in 55.35 and 87th place in the women\u2019s race ahead of Carolyn Ife in 59.47 and 108th\u00a0place. The evergreen Roger Barraclough, in conditions that were alien to his strengths, completed the\u00a0finishers for the Club in 78.18.
\nTwo of the Club\u2019s women runners lined up with 566 others at Donnington Park in the inaugural Clough\/Taylor People\u2019s Run on Sunday. For both it was a very productive outing with Louise Insley\u2019s 43.01 giving\u00a0her 3rd place in the women\u2019s race and the 1st WV40 prize. Cath Johnson, an avid Derby supporter, ran\u00a071.05 which gave her a very well earned 2nd place in the WV60 category.\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
