{"id":4417,"date":"2019-10-21T09:30:51","date_gmt":"2019-10-21T08:30:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdrr.co.uk\/?p=4417"},"modified":"2019-10-21T09:30:51","modified_gmt":"2019-10-21T08:30:51","slug":"anslow-cross-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sdrr.co.uk\/?p=4417","title":{"rendered":"Anslow Cross Country"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the leaves turn to brown and the days get shorter runner\u2019s thoughts turn to cross country and Sunday at Anslow, for members of South Derbyshire Road Runners, was the start of what will be a busy and competitive cross country winter. There was a terrific turnout of 39 runners from the Club for this, the first leg of the Derby Runner League. On a day of many terrific performances it was Chris Pearson who led the men\u2019s team home with a brilliant 2<sup>nd<\/sup> place finish. Chris, one of the Club\u2019s strongest runners, has raced sparingly on the road this season so it was a real bonus to see him run so well here. Ross Clarke, fresh from a sub 3 hour performance at the recent Chester Marathon, ran superbly for 6<sup>th<\/sup> place with ultra-distance man Andy Windle in 8<sup>th<\/sup> and the Club\u2019s man for all seasons, Mark Harriott shaking off any fatigue from the Chester Marathon to finish strongly in 11<sup>th<\/sup>. Rich Miller, a day after a half marathon, ran well for 14<sup>th<\/sup> place with Andy Alsop in 26<sup>th<\/sup>, Nathan Holmes in 30<sup>th<\/sup> and Men\u2019s Team Captain, Andy Orme in 35<sup>th<\/sup> giving everything to complete the team finishers in the men\u2019s race.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Matt Long raced strongly to finish in 51<sup>st<\/sup> with\ndebutant Dave Green showing well in 59<sup>th<\/sup> before a close battle\nbetween Ross Ballinger in 64<sup>th<\/sup> and another debutant, James Cox in 65<sup>th<\/sup>.\nBarry Saunders another recovering from a gruelling autumn marathon finished in\n71<sup>st<\/sup> before the inform Paul Glover in 74<sup>th<\/sup>, Chris\nElsegood in 85<sup>th<\/sup>, Joe Baldwin in 94<sup>th<\/sup> and Adrian Leigh in\n95<sup>th <\/sup>crossed the line. Gary Price collected the 104<sup>th<\/sup>\nplace finishing token before Mark Murkin in 113<sup>th<\/sup>, second claimer\nMitch Newman in 126<sup>th<\/sup> and debutant Mark White in 131<sup>st<\/sup>\ncompleted the Club\u2019s finishers in the men\u2019s race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another making her racing debut for the Club was Abbie Van\nDjik and a couple of weeks after winning the Chester Marathon she showed her\npedigree here by finishing in a superb 2<sup>nd<\/sup> place in the women\u2019s\nrace. A true measure of her performance is that overall she was the 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\nfinisher for the Club. The resurgent Christina Hawtin and Ellie Evans finished\nin 4<sup>th<\/sup> and 5<sup>th<\/sup> places with Tracey Glover in 11<sup>th<\/sup>\ncompleting the team finishers in the women\u2019s race. Solid support was provided\nby another with the Chester Marathon in her legs, Katie Dennis in 12<sup>th<\/sup>,\nironwoman Lisa Wright in 18<sup>th<\/sup> and Becky Moult and Nikki Reeves in 27<sup>th<\/sup>\nand 28<sup>th<\/sup> respectively. Sarah Walters ran strongly for 65<sup>th<\/sup>\nplace as did Becky Leneghan in 76<sup>th<\/sup> and Emily Atkins in 87<sup>th<\/sup>\nbefore Anna Casey in 97<sup>th<\/sup>, Shannon Hurdman in 98<sup>th<\/sup> and\nthe determined Pauline Cooper in 112<sup>th<\/sup> completed the Club\u2019s finishers\nin a very competitive women\u2019s race.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When the leaves turn to brown and the days get shorter runner\u2019s thoughts turn to cross country and Sunday at Anslow, for members of South Derbyshire Road Runners, was the start of what will be a busy and competitive cross country winter.
