{"id":935,"date":"2013-09-01T19:32:39","date_gmt":"2013-09-01T19:32:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sdrr.co.uk\/?p=935"},"modified":"2013-09-01T19:32:39","modified_gmt":"2013-09-01T19:32:39","slug":"wilne-10k-double-or-quit-the-moulton-10k","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sdrr.co.uk\/?p=935","title":{"rendered":"Wilne 10k, &#8216;Double or Quit&#8217; &#038; the Moulton 10k"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<strong>Louise continues to excel, Carolyn &amp; Gary \u2018Double or Quit\u2019 and our hard boys get wet!<\/strong><br \/>\nThe pre-race publicity for Sunday\u2019s Wilne 10k was certainly justified by the performances of Louise Insley, Shane Chapman &amp; Steve Leafe who all recorded PBs for the distance. <!--more-->In conditions that were conducive to quick running and over a flat, fast 2 lap course, Louise continued her superb recent form to record a chip time of 38.03 for 6<sup>th<\/sup> place in the women\u2019s race and 1<sup>st<\/sup> place in the Derbyshire AAA &amp; Midlands Masters Championships &amp; 2<sup>nd<\/sup> place in the Midlands Champs, which were all incorporated in the overall race.\u00a0 Shane has developed brilliantly this season and his 39.31 was good enough for 136<sup>th<\/sup> place out of 835 finishers. Steve performance of 42.07 and a top 200 finish was well earned reward for this hardworking Club stalwart.<br \/>\nIn between these top performances Chris Mason was in steady form to record 39.44 for 140<sup>th<\/sup> place. A performance that was also good enough to clinch the overall 1<sup>st<\/sup> MV60 prize &amp; 1<sup>st<\/sup> place in the Midlands Masters Vets Championship. Paul Chapman, who also continues to improve with every race, ran well to finish in 152<sup>nd<\/sup> position in a time of 40.21. Andy Orme, despite being in the middle of heavy training for the upcoming Chester Marathon, put in another consistent performance to record 41.13 for 168<sup>th<\/sup> place. Although not recorded as a PB in the formal \u2018Run Britain\u2019 results Club records indicate that Jack Leafe\u2019s 41.52 was also a PB for the distance.\u00a0 Good times for 5k indicate that the youngster has the ability to significantly further amend his 10k times in the near future.<br \/>\nSamantha Skidmore was next to cross the finishing line for the Club in a hard run 51.08 followed by Nicola Thompson, who got in some excellent training for the Birmingham Half Marathon in October, in running 54.48. Mark Skidmore completed the finishers for the Club with a hard working 66.00 run.<br \/>\nOn Saturday Gary Price and Carolyn Ife ran the \u2018Double or Quit\u2019 race organized by Ilkeston RC.\u00a0Being the hardy competitors they are both ran the 10 mile race (the double) rather than the 5 mile (or quit).<br \/>\nGary was 45<sup>th<\/sup> overall and 4<sup>th<\/sup> in his age category in a time of 1.20.36. Carolyn was 104th overall and 3<sup>rd<\/sup> in her age category in a time of 1.41.12. It was Carolyn\u2019s debut at the 10mile distance. Not content with \u2018double or quitting\u2019 on Saturday Gary ran the John Fraser 10 today (results not yet available)<br \/>\nThe previous Sunday Andy Orme, Shane Chapman and Paul Chapman represented the Club in the Moulton 10k. Over a challenging, undulating course through the Northant\u2019s countryside, including the crossing of a shallow ford at about 8km, Shane led the trio of yellow vested heroes home in 40:41, followed by Andy in 40:53 and Paul in 42:26. Our intrepid crew enjoyed the race particularly the well deserved flapjack at the end.
