Hawtin takes first win
Attending the weekly parkrun event has become habit for many members of the club and the 98th Conkers parkrun on the 16th, as usual, had good representation from South Derbyshire Road Runners.
This week was especially note worthy with 5 of the 9 SDRR runners finishing in the top 15 in a field of 216. Andy Hawtin claimed his first win of the event, a great achievement which has been coming for sometime having finished second and third on a number of previous occasions.
Chris Gunstone and Gerry O’Brien also made it into the top 10 with 6th and 8th place finishes. Steve Leafe and Andy Orme engaged in what is becoming a regular duel with Steve edging Andy out by 9 seconds in a new PB. The pair claimed 12th and 14th places.
Gary Price came home in 33rd position in the middle of a very close bunch of runners, with one other runner being credited with the same time as Gary.
The first lady home for SDRR was new member Laura Storer finishing in 76th position ahead of Susan Rowe in 130th. The ever present Cath Johnston was the last SDRR runner home completing her 46th parkrun in 169th place.
