We are a friendly and inclusive club based at Swadlincote’s Greenbank Leisure Centre in South Derbyshire. Formed in 1984 when a policeman and a hairdresser in Swadlincote noticed there were a lot of runners around. An advert was put in the Burton Mail for interested runners to get together to form a club, the Club has built until it became affiliated in 1985 and was originally named the South Derbyshire Road Runners Athletic Club.

We have been welcoming runners of every ability for over 40 years, from beginners to seasoned racers. Our qualified coaches organise our club training nights to include a wide variety of training options which cater for the wide range of abilities of our members.  They are also able offer individual training programmes.
We compete in the Leicester Road Running League, Burton & District Summer League, and the Derby Runner Cross Country Leagues.

We also organise an internal Club Championship which places members in leagues based on ability, where each year, members are required to complete a minimum number of races from the defined club listing to qualify for an award. It’s a great competition and lots of fun!

We meet at Greenbank at 7pm on Wednesday night and welcome newcomers to join us. We encourage you try the club out before you think of joining us so come along for a few weeks and see what you think. Afterwards we can often be found in the Sir Nigel Gresley in Swadlincote town centre. See the Join Us section for more information and to get in touch with us click here.

In 2006 we added a walking section for those who do not want the rigours of running, or to use it as a stepping stone to becoming fit to run. Our walking group meet on a Monday evening at 7:00pm

No club is complete without a thriving social side and throughout the year we aim to provide a range of opportunities for having fun together. In the past we have organised quiz nights, running treasure hunts, hare and hounds sessions, hill walks, meals out and even trips to foreign places for major events.
