Our home run is at Conkers in Leicestershire. Parkrun means many things to many people but one is the satisfaction of being able to measure and monitor improvement and the joy of running PBs. One of our parkrun regulars, Steve Fowler, has had the joy of running seven PBs in seven consecutive weeks. We’ve almost run out of nicknames to call him, for example ‘Minty’ next week (December the 21st) because he’s ‘After Eight’, but nevertheless it’s a tremendous effort on Steve’s part’.
Unfortunately, Steve couldn’t quite make the 8 & is currently building his strength up for a fresh assault on his PB in 2014. Parkrun HQ advised that the current record was an astounding 49 consecutive PBs but ackowledged that Steve was definitely ‘trying’ in getting his PB down from 21.58 to 20.43 in 7 not so easy steps.
