Ashby 5 – Further Information

More detailed information from the Club Chairman on the cancellation of the Ashby 5. It is with much regret that we will be unable to host our Ashby 5 mile race in 2014. This has resulted from problems with traffic management that we have been unable to sort out, and if we had continued with the event we would have been doing so without insurance. It has been brought to my attention that a number of club members have been suggesting through the medium of Face Book that they intend to organise an alternative run over the same course as originally planned. Members should note that any such event is NOT sanctioned by the club and as such all runners taking part will have no insurance cover and no claim against the club in the event of an accident, Furthermore, those involved should understand that by trying to override the local Road Race Authorities the club could in the future be barred from putting on races which is the lifeblood of the club and underpins our efforts to maintain club fees at the lowest in the area.
