Shane sets the pace!!!
In very warm running conditions ten members from the Club lined up with almost 1500 others in the re-launched Derby Ramathon . Shane Chapman led the way over the 13.1 miles with a superb 54th place finish in 1.27.51 with Louise Insley two places behind in 1.28.15. Louise had the well earned consolation of securing the 3rd prize in the women’s race. Paul Chapman & Stuart Halsey both also secured excellent top 100 finishes in 70th & 91st places in times of 1.30.43 & 1.33.01 respectively. MV60 Ray Mortlock was next across the line with a terrific age related performance of 1.43.53 in 255th place followed by Andy Orme in 1.47.26 & 327th place. Wayne Kelleher, who has completed two spring marathons in a very busy season to date, battled well for 1.50.57 followed by Cheryl Bell, in what was probably the performance of the day, in 1.53.47 & 481st place overall. Maria Allen, making her debut over the classic distance, ran well for 2.19.32 with the battling Cath Johnson completing the finishers for the club in 2.56.04.
