James & Adrian set bests!
In a season were so many of the Club’s runners have set new personal bests, over a range of distances, it was James Cassidy & Adrian Middleton’s turn on Sunday in the Worksop Halloween Half Marathon. The race, the penultimate one in the 2014 Club Championship, took place in good running conditions although many of the 1500 plus finishers could have done without the stiff breeze in places. James stopped the clock in a chip time of 1.25.07 to record a really well deserved 58th place & a superb personal best for the distance. After running in 29 degrees in Palma, Majorca last weekend Steve Leafe showed terrific resilience, in totally different conditions, to record another really good time of 1.33.19 before the improving Chris Hughes held his good form to record 1.36.22. Continuing her tremendous record of running in everyone of this year’s Championship races, Tracey Glover ran well to record 1.43.14 before the hard working Adrian Middleton was rewarded for his efforts with a superb PB of 1.43.21.
In turning out today James & Adrian both achieved the necessary qualifying standard for this year’s Championship while, Chris Hughes, like a number of others, needs to turn out next week at Shepshed to complete the required 7 qualifying races.
