“Six hardy runners from the Club braved the cold on Sunday to run in the Huncote Hash, a tough off road race of around 10k, including hills, mud and 200 metres wading through a stream. In a field of over 350 runners, everyone performed well, with Simon Reynolds leading SDRR home in 80th place in a time of 53.36, keeping enough in the tank to beat Steve Leafe by 4 seconds. Next home for the club was Dave Eyre, finding sections of the course very difficult in unsuitable footwear. The ever consistent Andy Orme, worked his way through the field to finish in 112thposition in 56 minutes 05 seconds. Ray Mortlock defied the cold to come in 165th position in 61 minutes and 32 seconds, whilst Mark Nixon continued his comeback from a long term injury in 187th place in a time of 63 minutes and 34 seconds.”
