There was another strong turnout of SDRR runners at the latest Run Derby event, the Tara Kinder 10k, run over a 3 lap route on the trails around Elvaston Castle (writes Steve Leafe). There were 480 finishers, and all of our runners finished well in the top half, and Nikki Reeves won a prize for finishing 3rd in the WV35 category, with her time of 44.47 (the same as SDRR second claim runner Mark Harriott) earning her 114th position overall.
Stuart Halsey, who is in fine form at the moment, was first home for the club, in 39th position, with a personal best time of 40.14. Next home for the club was Andy Orme in 51st position in a time of 40.48, closely followed by Chris Gunstone, who ran an evenly paced race to finish in 55th place in a time of 41.01, his best 10k time of the season. Steve Leafe, in 62nd in 41.23 was not far behind, just ahead of Paul Chapman, who is gradually recovering his form following injury, and finished in 63rd in 41.38.
Despite having had a heavy schedule of races, including the Rugby Half Marathon 6 days earlier, Paul Glover, in 143rd in a time of 46.18, and Tracey Glover in 170th position in a time of 47.52, were both pleased with their times on another good night for the club.
