A day of top performances!!!
The Halloween Worksop Half Marathon is the penultimate race in the Club’s 2015 Championship &, for the thirteen runners who tackled what is recognised as a relatively challenging course, six achieved big PB’s. In superb running conditions it was reigning Men’s Club Champion, Dominic Sharman, who led the way home in an excellent chip time of 80.34 for a 34th place finish. Andy Hawtin, who has had an excellent season, wasn’t far behind in 44th place in a PB of 81.26. Stuart Halsey, who has battled back superbly after injury, recorded a PB of 88.32 before Dave Eyre rolled back the years to record a superb 91.50. There was then a really tight battle between Tom Eyre & Kelly Knight with Tom’s PB of 94.37 just edging out Kelly’s 94.40. The Glovers, Paul & Tracey, both performed well to record 101.49 & 103.45 respectively before the committed Barry Saunders stopped the clock in 108.52. There then followed three superb PBs from Richard Ward, Tim Argent & Dave Lunn of 111.24, 112.39 & 113.47 respectively before Stuart Reeves gave everything to complete the finisher’s for the Club in 116.10.
Autumn is marathon season with James Cassidy tackling the classic distance in Sunday’s Leicester Marathon recording a very respectable 3.09.49 on his debut at the distance.
Further afield Linda Mason tackled the challenging Lausanne Half Marathon running well to record 2.26.48 with Chris making his first racing appearance after 12 months out with injury recording 40.13 in the earlier & easier 10k race.
