Carolyn Ife, Felicity Towns, Cath Johnson and James Cobb tackled the Beacon Hill Half Marathon on Sunday 15 November. As the name suggests, the course was very hilly! It consisted of two laps of Beacon Hill Park, taking in Beacon Hill twice and incorporating several other hills as well. It was on trails that were full of leaves but surprisingly little mud. It threatened rain at the start but luckily this held off for the race.
James was first back for the club in an excellent time of 1hr 49. Carolyn and Felicity ran together both finishing in a time of 2hrs 52 beating their previous years time by 3 minutes. It was Cath’s first time at this race and she finished strongly in a time of 3hrs 9.
Louise Insley was also in racing action on Sunday in what is recognised as one of the biggest autumn road races, the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k. Louise’s chip time of 38.06, in far from ideal running conditions, was good enough for 1st place in the WV45 category.
