“Pain is just the French word for bread….”
On a brisk, 4 degree morning, 3 members of SDRR braved the journey south to run the Cambridge Half Marathon, with the new route swapping two laps of the city centre for one long loop, taking in the Cambridgeshire countryside as well as the University City (cue amusing but educational signs such as “Pain is just the French word for bread, no one’s scared of bread”).
First home for the club, taking advantage of the good course, was Andy Hawtin in 1:21:55 -a great start to his half season. One year on from his half debut at the same event was Glenn Smith in 1:32:46, with a massive 4 minute PB. Finally, was Kat Smith in 2:30:04, who despite having an injury-plagued run, enjoyed taking in the sights of her hometown a little slower than last year!
