Chris makes his mark!
Kibworth was the location for the latest race in this year’s Leicestershire Road Running League with 20 members joining 470 others in tackling this scenic, but challenging, 6 mile course.
Chris Pearson, showing no ill effects from his recent strong showing in the Belvoir Challenge, ran superbly to lead the Club’s runner’s home in 17th place in a chip time of 35:21. Giving great support, Andy Hawtin stopped the clock in 36:34 for 38th place with Stuart Halsey, having an excellent early season, also ducking under the 40 minute mark with 39:15 & 67th place. There were also strong showings from Andy Orme & Andy Windle but, for the first time this season, it was Andy O who had the edge as times of 40:16 & 40:52 respectively confirm. Colin Mee, giving another strong showing in his age category, finishing here in 41:28 with Glenn Smith following up his recent PB in the Cambridge Half Marathon, running strongly again for 41:58. Tom Eyre, showing a welcome return to form, finished in 42:49 with Nigel Atkins also running strongly for 44:38. Barry Saunders continued his improvement with 45:47 before the durable Tracey Glover led the Club’s women home with an excellent 47:13 for 17th place in the women’s race. There then followed the closest inter-Club racing involving Laura Harper, Malcolm Moore & Peter Barsby as, not for the first time, Malcolm crossed the line first but was the middle finisher of this trio as times of 47:43, 47:52 & 47:55 respectively confirm. Gary Price continued his road racing comeback with 48:33 before Tim Argent carried on his 100% turnout in this year’s Club Championship with 49:24. Sam Skidmore continued setting the pace in her league with 51:58 before Inge Moore & Pauline Cooper gave everything in completing the finishers for the Club in 69:29 & 70:18 respectively.
