The latest race in the Leicestershire Road Running League was the Hermitage 10k, and SDRR were well represented with 12 runners competing.
There were some good performances over a challenging course with lots of hills. Leading the way home for the club was the ever consistent Andy Orme, who finished in 75th place in 40 minutes 32 seconds, just getting the better of Glenn Smith, who finished in 40.43. There was also a close contest between Steve Leafe, 124th in 43.29 overhauling Nigel Atkins, who was close behind in 128th in 43.34.
Paul Glover continued his good form of late, finishing in 240th position in 48.24, closely followed by Gary Price in 254th who was showing signs of a return to form following niggling injuries with a time of 49.20. Tracey Glover, who has had a busy race programme of late, was next home for the club, beating the 50 minute mark in 261st place in a time of 49.37, whilst Dave Lunn, taking a break from his challenge of running 12 half marathons in 2016, still ran well for a time of 52.17 which earned him 327th place.
There was another close battle between Karen Wilks and Kat Smith, with Karen overtaking Kat late in the race to come in 354th in 53.33, but Kat, in 362nd position, was delighted to get a big pb of 54.03, which was over 10 minutes faster than the time she ran over this course 2 years ago. Robin Thorne, fresh from a parkrun PB the previous day, ran well again in a time of 54.48 in 384th. SDRR’s finishers were completed by Pauline Cooper, who battled though the hilly course in 537th place in a time of 73m and 4 seconds.”
