It was another busy weekend for the Club’s runners with some terrific performances in conditions not experienced for some time. Leading the way was Rob Eaton in the Paris Marathon with his tremendous 02:40:00 being the Club’s fastest and third sub 3 hour marathon this month. Also well worthy of mention are Gareth Watkins excellent 10th place finish in the Derby 10k in 34:24 and Andy Hawtin’s 4th place finish in 29:40 in the Club’s own race, the ‘Run in the Forest 5’.
Needless to say the strongest turn-out was in the ‘Run in the Forest 5’ where 15 others tackled the trails around Conkers in very warm conditions. Andy Windle followed Andy H brilliantly to finish in 34:29 with the resurgent Becky Atkins and Tracy Glover providing superb team support in 37:38 and 38:07 respectively. Tony Richards ran well to stop the clock in 40:49 with Paul Hudson, the improving Hannah Wintrip and Jenny Tattersall giving everything to finish in 43:00, 44:51 and 45:53. Lawrence Peckham and Pauline Cooper battled the tough conditions to complete the Club’s finishers in 55:22 and 57:33.
Also performing well at the Derby 10k were James Gough in 41:43, Nikki Reeves in 45:13, David Lunn in 51:01 and Mark Murkin in 52:10.
