Alun-Lloyd amongst the prizes!!!
Four members represented SDRR on what was a very warm Saturday at Trail Marathon Wales with Alun Lloyd Thomas, Mark Harriott, Nikki Reeves and Kelvin Taylor making the trip for the event which is now in it’s 6th year around the forest parks of Coed-y-Brenin and features some very challenging terrain.
The full distance features some 4,000 ft of ascent and it was Alun showing tremendous strength with an impressive 4th place overall in 3:44m leading the way for the club, Mark taking part in the full marathon for the 6th consecutive year also completed the 26.2 mile distance in 4:32m securing 49th place overall.
The half marathon distance also represents a tough challenge with 1900ft of ascent around the trails of the 13 mile course and here first back for the club was Nikki finishing in 2:21m which was a significant course best by 7 minutes for 179th place at her third time at the event. Kelvin Taylor also completed the half distance in an impressive 2:43m which earned him 238th place.
