Seven South Derbyshire Road Runners helped make up the 542 taking part in this year’s race.
The course is a challenging, hilly route made all the more difficult by the warm Bank Holiday weather. Runners are rewarded with a downhill finish if they can make it over the first 6km of climbs. First back for the club was Rob Eaton taking 6th place in a speedy 37:32. Glenn Smith was next over the line in 22nd stopping the clock at 42:04. Rich Miller, wearing Charnwood AC colours on this occasion, finished 35th with a brisk 43:34. Kev Clarke crept into the top 100 taking 95th in a swift 48:14. Karen Wilks and Robin Thorne were inseparable in 284th & 285th both sharing a 58:28 chip time. Pauline Cooper made light work of the tough conditions to record 1:11:47 in 464th. Our reporter, Glenn Smith, was also moonlighting for 3M UK helping them take home the corporate Garner Canning Shield for best performing local company.
