There were 9 runners from the Club in the Palma half marathon, which once again was run in very warm conditions. In a field of just under 4,000 runners the club had 7 finishers in the top 250, a great showing in such a large race .
Leading the club home, Chris Pearson ran magnificently to take 14th place in time of 1.19.05. Jack Leafe also finished in the top hundred with a time of 1.28.58 earning him 88th place. Louise Insley was coming back from injury, but still 137th (and 2nd in her age category) in 1.32.09. There was a close battle between the Club’s next 4 runners, with Steve Leafe in 220th in 1.35.34; Shane Chapman in 230th in 1.35.56; Andy Orme in 238th in 1.36.14 (though Andy had a faster chip time than Shane) and Kelly Knight close behind in 244th in 1.36.28. Another runner returning from injury, Karen Wilks, was next home for the club in 2.16.47 and 2,574th place, followed by Robin Thorne in 2,893rd position in a time of 2.21.45.
