Last Sunday was another day when the yellow vests were prominent in some big 10k races. Lichfield had a large field of 965 runners & Andy Hawtin continued his excellent season long form to finish in 21st place in the excellent time of 37.53. Running just as well was Christina Cooper who ran a PB of 43.27 and an excellent 101st place over a course that has its challenges. Rob Lower also returned a best recent performance for the distance of 43.38 & 132nd place. Putting in a very welcome appearance in Club colours was Marie York who managed to get the better of husband Dave in times of 53.47 & 53.52 respectively. Mark Skidmore continued to gain valuable racing experience with a hard working 66.04 to complete the finishers for the Club.
Andy Orme was very much to the fore at the inaugural Calke Abbey 10k coming 29th out of 342 finishers in a time of 41.19. Gary Price (98th) and a currently injury free Malcolm Moore (107th) were next to finish in times of 48.17 & 49.03 respectively. Chris Morton (192nd), making a good racing debut in Club colours, was next across the finish line in 54.44 followed by a battling Inge Moore (220th) in 56.53. Carolyn Ife (260th), who has improved steadily across the season, completed the finishers in 60.27.
Louise Insley travelled slightly further afield to compete in the Salford 10k and again displayed her current level of consistently high performance to stop the clock at 38.22. In a top class field Louise’s performance was good enough to secure the 1st WV40 prize and 5th place overall in the women’s race.
