Yellows dominant again!
In a relatively low key race on Tuesday night with only 64 completing the race but, as at the Washlands Relay, the Club dominated the field with 18 members taking part. There were also some tremendous performances right down the field with Andy Hawtin’s 36.21 giving him 2nd place in the men’s race & Christina Hawtin’s 41.39 securing an excellent 1st place in the women’s race. On a warm night there was also some excellent inter-club racing with Stuart Halsey looking good as he continued his comeback from injury with 40.42 & 7th, Colin Mee 9th in 41.26, after a race long battle with Christina, who finished 10th overall, & Matt Clemson one second behind Christina in 11th place. Christian Glover was also in the mix as he finished in 12th in 41.54 before Tom Eyre executed a superb sprint finish to edge past Steve Leafe in 14th & 16th & 42.11 & 42.24 respectively.  Tom, following his Dad’s post-race refuelling advice to the letter, was also well to the fore in the burger queue.
It was great to see Rob Lower performing well to finish in 43.35 in 18th place before Paul Glover, whose recent performances have laid down an early marker for the ‘most improved runner award’, stopped the clock in 46.35 & 30th place. Tracey Glover wasn’t far behind in 33rd in a time of 48.02 before Sam Skidmore & Richard Ward kept each other company throughout the race to finish in an identical time of 54.08 with Sam in 43rd & Richard, ever the gentleman, in 44th. Maria Allen, Alison Shearer & Kerry Ward gave there all with times of 56.27, 57.02 & 58.13 respectively before Linda Mason (61.33) & Pauline Cooper(70.11) ran well to complete the finishers for the Club in an enjoyable night of racing.
