Stand out performances……..again
On a relatively quiet racing weekend there were no shortages of standout performances from those Club members who were in action. Wayne Kelleher & Tony Phillips were in action at the Edinburgh Marathon with Tony ducking under 4 hours to obtain a superb ‘Good for Age’ time for next year’s London Marathon. After running together for a while Wayne was disappointed to miss out on a sub 4 but was happy enough with a well run 4.09.
Meanwhile ‘Rock & Rolling’ in the Liverpool Half Marathon was Nikki Reeves & she made light of the course & distance by recording a massive PB of 1.39.37.
Steve Leafe was in action in the 25th Annual Tour of Derwent Valley, an event he’s tackled on a number of occasions. After tackling the first 3 races over 3 days (Duffield 4.5, Wirksworth 4.2 & the Milford 5.09) & steadily improving his overall position from 36th to 20th, Steve had to miss out on the last race, the Milford 5.09, when Wembley called. Have a word with Steve if you fancy attempting this challenging series.
Finally, mixing it with some of the best runners in the country at the BUPA London 10k was Louise Insley and her superb vein of form continued as she recorded 37.33 to take the 2nd WV40 prize.
Edinburgh, Derwent Valley, Liverpool & London
